| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>ABSTRACT - Physalis ixocarpa is an edible fruit with great economic<br/>importance in many countries. The use of high-quality seeds is<br/>essential for the success of the crop, so their harvest should be<br/>carried out at their maximum point of physiological maturity.<br/>This study aimed to verify the influence of the growing season<br/>and fruit maturation stage on the seed physiological maturity<br/>of two P. ixocarpa varieties (‘green’ and ‘purple’) grown in<br/>the Brazilian semi-arid region. The water content, dry weight,<br/>germination percentage and seedling emergence were evaluated.<br/>The growing season influenced the seed maturation process of<br/>the two evaluated varieties, with a more pronounced effect for<br/>the ‘purple’ one. To obtain higher-quality seeds, the cultivation<br/>in the Brazilian semi-arid region can be carried out from May<br/>to August and the collection of fruits to obtain seeds from the<br/>stage 4 of maturation.<br/><br/><br/>KEYWORDS: Solanaceae, tomatillo, fruit maturation, seed<br/>physiological potential. |

| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>RESUMO - Physalis ixocarpa é uma fruta comestível com grande<br/>importância econômica em muitos países. O uso de sementes de<br/>alta qualidade é essencial para o sucesso do seu cultivo; portanto,<br/>sua colheita deve ser realizada no ponto máximo de maturidade<br/>fisiológica. Objetivou-se verificar a influência da época de cultivo<br/>e do estádio de maturação dos frutos na maturidade fisiológica<br/>de sementes de duas variedades de P. ixocarpa (‘verde’ e ‘roxa’)<br/>cultivadas no semiárido brasileiro. Foram avaliados o teor de água,<br/>massa seca, porcentagem de germinação e emergência de plântulas. A<br/>época de cultivo influenciou no processo de maturação das sementes<br/>das duas variedades avaliadas, com efeito mais pronunciado para<br/>a ‘roxa’. Para se obter sementes de maior qualidade, o cultivo no<br/>semiárido brasileiro pode ser realizado de maio a agosto e a coleta de<br/>frutos para obtenção de sementes a partir do estádio 4 de maturação.<br/><br/><br/>PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Solanaceae, tomatillo, maturação de<br/>frutos, potencial fisiológico de sementes. |
