| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>RESUMO:<br/><br/>Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito de diferentes períodos de estresse<br/>hídrico sobre a capacidade fotossintética, o crescimento, os teores de óleo essencial e de citral<br/>de capim-limão (Cymbopogon citratus). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos<br/>casualizados, com 4 repetições, em esquema fatorial 2 x 6, sendo 2 condições de cultivo:<br/>plantas com e sem restrição hídrica; e 6 períodos de estresse hídrico: 0, 2, 7, 8, 11 e 13 dias<br/>de suspensão da irrigação antes da colheita. Durante o experimento, foram avaliados o teor de<br/>clorofila, crescimento (comprimento da nervura central da folha e matéria seca da parte aérea e<br/>radicular), as trocas gasosas, os teores de óleo essencial e de citral. Os resultados mostraram<br/>que a restrição hídrica afetou negativamente a taxa fotossintética líquida, a transpiração, o<br/>teor de clorofila, o comprimento da nervura central e a massa seca da parte aérea. Entretanto,<br/>em comparação com as plantas sem restrição, os teores de óleo essencial e de citral foram<br/>influenciados positivamente.<br/><br/>Palavras-chave: Cymbopogon citratus, restrição hídrica, plantas medicinais e aromáticas. |

| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>ABSTRACT: <br/><br/>Contents of essential oil, citral, photosynthetic capacity, and growth in<br/>lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf.) under water stress. The objective of this<br/>study was to evaluate the effect of different periods of water stress as a function of photosynthetic<br/>capacity, growth, essential oil and citral contents of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus). The<br/>experimental design was a randomized block design with four replications in a factorial 2 x 6,<br/>that is, 2 conditions: plants with and without water restriction; and 6 periods of water stress: 0,<br/>2, 7, 8, 11, and 13 days of the irrigation suspension before harvesting. During this study, we<br/>evaluated the chlorophyll content, growth (length of the midrib of the leaf, dry weight of shoots<br/>and roots), gas exchange, and the contents of essential oil and citral. Our results showed that the<br/>water restriction had a negative effect on the net photosynthetic rate, transpiration, chlorophyll<br/>content, midrib length, and dry weight of shoots. However, in comparison to the plants without<br/>water restriction, the contents of essential oil and citral were positively influenced.<br/><br/>Key words: Cymbopogon citratus, water restriction, medicinal and aromatic plants |
