| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>RESUMO: <br/><br/>A obesidade é uma doença metabólica crônica causada por desequilíbrio na<br/>ingestão de alimentos e gasto de energia, estando associada a um aumento da adipogênese.<br/>Hibiscus sabdariffa, considerada a segunda planta mais estudada após o chá verde, é usada<br/>contra a inflamação, obesidade, dislipidemia, hipertensão e doenças hepáticas. Esse estudo<br/>teve como objetivo investigar os efeitos do H. sabdariffa no tratamento destas patologias e<br/>reações adversas. Estudos in vitro apontam que H. sabdariffa, administrado na concentração<br/>de 2,5 mg/ml, teve efeito antilipase e atividade antiamilase. Em outra pesquisa, 450 mg do<br/>extrato do H. sabdariffa, administrados 3 vezes ao dia, por 12 semanas, demonstrou redução<br/>do peso corporal em mulheres. Em uma investigação, o mesmo extrato diminuiu o colesterol<br/>sanguíneo de adolescentes quando administrado numa concentração de 2 g por dia, durante<br/>30 dias. Em outro estudo teve reação adversa interferindo na espermatogênese de ratos<br/>machos prejudicando a sua fertilidade. H. sabdariffa teve efeitos benéficos para o tratamento<br/>auxiliar da obesidade e doenças associadas, mas são necessários mais ensaios clínicos sobre<br/>a segurança e eficácia desta planta.<br/><br/>Palavras-Chave: Hibiscus, fitoterápicos, obesidade, reação adversa. |

| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>ABSTRACT: <br/><br/>Benefits of Hibiscus sabdariffa treatment for obesity, associated diseases, and their<br/>adverse effects. Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease caused by an imbalance in food intake<br/>and energy expenditure, being associated with an increase in adipogenesis. Hibiscus sabdariffa,<br/>considered the second most studied plant after green tea, is used against inflammation, obesity,<br/>dyslipidemia, hypertension and liver disease. This study aimed to investigate the effects of<br/>H. sabdariffa in the treatment of these pathologies and adverse reactions. In vitro studies<br/>indicate that H. sabdariffa, administered at a concentration of 2.5 mg/ml, had anti-lipase and<br/>anti-amylase activity. In another study, 450 mg of H. sabdariffa extract, administered 3 times<br/>a day for 12 weeks, demonstrated a reduction in body weight in women. In one investigation,<br/>the same extract lowered blood cholesterol in teenagers when administered at a concentration<br/>of 2 g per day for 30 days. In another study, there was an adverse reaction interfering with<br/>spermatogenesis in male rats, impairing their fertility. H. sabdariffa had beneficial effects for the<br/>adjunctive treatment of obesity and associated diseases, but further clinical trials on the safety<br/>and efficacy of this plant are needed.<br/><br/>Key words: Hibiscus sabdariffa, herbal medicines, obesity, adverse reaction. |
