| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>RESUMO: <br/><br/>Elionurus muticus é uma espécie da família Poaceae, conhecida popularmente como<br/>“Capim limão”. A espécie tem despertado grande interesse econômico, devido à produção de<br/>óleo essencial, com predominante odor cítrico, proveniente da parte aérea. No óleo, o citral é<br/>o composto que desperta maior interesse, pois é amplamente empregado nas indústrias de<br/>perfumarias, alimentos e cosméticos. O gênero Elionurus apresenta uma taxonomia complexa,<br/>com grande diversidade e ainda pouco esclarecida, além de apresentar dificuldade taxonômica<br/>relacionada a sinonímias. No caso de E. muticus não há informações suficientes na literatura<br/>que caracterizem de forma adequada a espécie, apresentando divergências tanto para o gênero<br/>Elionurus, quanto para a espécie E. muticus. Em função do potencial produtivo e da necessidade<br/>de conhecimento, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo realizar a avaliação botânica e<br/>analisar o desenvolvimento da inflorescência da espécie. Inflorescências foram coletadas<br/>para analisar as estruturas botânicas e os estádios do florescimento. A partir dos resultados<br/>foi possível visualizar a presença de pálea nas espiguetas, estrutura que não é relatada para<br/>o gênero. Além disso, a duração do florescimento é de aproximadamente 30 dias, ocorrendo<br/>nos meses de janeiro e fevereiro. São escassos os trabalhos que abordam o florescimento de<br/>E. muticus, essas informações são de grande importância para o conhecimento da espécie<br/>e criação de estratégias relacionadas ao manejo, bem como servindo de informações para o<br/>possível melhoramento genético da espécie.<br/><br/>Palavras-chave: Poaceae, citral, capim-limão, espigueta, florescimento |

| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>ABSTRACT: <br/><br/>Botanical evaluation and development of inflorescences of Elionurus<br/>muticus. Elionurus muticus is a species of the Poacea family, popularly known as ‘Capim<br/>limão’ (lemon grass). The species has aroused great economic interest, due to the production<br/>of essential oil, with predominant citric odor, coming from the aerial part. In oil, citral is the<br/>compound that arouses greater interest, since it is widely used in the perfumery, food and<br/>cosmetic industries. The genus Elionurus presents a complex taxonomy, with great diversity<br/>and still little clarified, besides presenting taxonomic difficulty related to synonyms. In the case<br/>of E. muticus there is not enough information in the literature that adequately characterizes<br/>the species, presenting divergences for both the genus Elionurus and the E. muticus species.<br/>Due to the productive potential and the need for knowledge, the present work had the objective<br/>of performing the botanical evaluation and analyzing the development of the inflorescence of<br/>the species. Inflorescences were collected to analyze the botanical structures and flowering<br/>stages. From the results, it was possible to visualize the presence of pálea in the spikelets, a<br/>structure that is not reported for the genus. In addition, the flowering duration is approximately 30<br/>days, occurring in the months of January and February. There are few studies that address the<br/>flowering of E. muticus, this information is of great importance for the knowledge of the species<br/>and the creation of strategies related to the management, as well as serving as information for<br/>the possible genetic improvement of the species.<br/><br/>Key words: Poaceae, citral, lemongrass, spikelet, flowering. |
