| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>RESUMO<br/><br/>Este trabalho trata das espécies de Piperaceae representadas no estado do Ceará, Brasil,<br/>com interesse assentado no conhecimento taxonômico, como também no seu valor medicinal. O<br/>tratamento taxonômico compreende descrições, chaves para identificação dos táxons e distribuição<br/>geográfica com base no exame de exsicatas de herbários, incluindo tipos. Comentários sobre<br/>utilidades e dados ambientais são atribuídos a algumas espécies. Para o Ceará, segundo o material<br/>examinado, são assinalados 4 gêneros, separados principalmente pelo hábito e pela disposição das<br/>inflorescências, constantes de 35 taxa que se distinguem pelos padrões de nervação foliar, bractéolas<br/>florais e frutos. Os indivíduos destes táxons ocorrem nas áreas úmidas das serras de Baturité,<br/>Maranguape, Aratanha e Machado; a maioria apresenta distribuição ampla, enquanto que Piper<br/>rufipilum Yunck. é espécie endêmica da Chapada do Araripe e Ottonia leptostachia Kunth<br/>constituiu-se em uma nova localidade.<br/><br/>Palavras-chaves: Piperaceae/Taxonomia/Flora/Ceará/Medicinais. |

| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>ABSTRACT<br/><br/>The subject of this paper is the Piperaceae species which occur in the state of Ceará, Brazil,<br/>with special attention paid to their taxonomy, as well as the medicinal value. The taxonomic treatment<br/>used in this study were the following in the examination of dissected dried herbarium specimens<br/>including types, descriptions, keys for identification of taxa and geographical distribution. Commentary<br/>on the use and ambiental data are presented for some taxa. The State of Ceará denote in the<br/>material examined 4 genera, differentiated by habitat and arrangement of inflorescence, in 35 taxa<br/>which are distinguishable by their patterns of foliar nervation, floral bracteoles and fruits. The<br/>individuals these taxa occur in the humid regions of the mountains of Baturité, Maranguape, Aratanha<br/>and Machado; where the majority of them are widely distributed, whereas Piper rufipilum Yunck.<br/>is only found in Chapada do Araripe and Ottonia leptostachia Kunth is found in yet another area.<br/><br/>Key-words: Piperaceae/Taxonomy/Flora/Ceará/Medicinal |
