| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>Resumo<br/><br/>Ipomoea eriocalyx Meisn. é uma espécie nativa, de distribuição restrita a alguns estados do Nordeste e<br/>Sudeste, sendo limitada aos domínios fitogeográficos da Caatinga e Mata Atlântica. O presente estudo<br/>objetivou investigar aspectos da floração, biologia floral e o mecanismo de polinização de I. eriocalyx, em um<br/>remanescente urbano de Mata Atlântica, em Salvador (BA), visando registrar, também, dados ecológicos. A<br/>floração e frutificação de I. eriocalyx foram contínuas ao longo do ano. As flores são conspícuas, de formato<br/>infundibiliforme, apresentam antese diurna, e oferecem pólen, e possivelmente néctar como recurso floral.<br/>Apesar das características melitófilas, as flores também são atrativas a outros visitantes florais, tais como<br/>borboletas, moscas e besouro. Ipomoea eriocalyx é autocompatível, e adicionalmente, apresenta as abelhas<br/>[Ceratina (Crewella) spp. e Melitoma segmentaria] como polinizadores principais, fatos que podem favorecer<br/>o seu estabelecimento em ambientes antropizados.<br/><br/>Palavras-chave: Apoidea, flores efêmeras, melitofilia, planta ruderal, trepadeira.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Abstract<br/><br/>Ipomoea eriocalyx Meisn. is a native Brazilian species, with distribution restricted to states in the northeastern<br/>and southeastern regions, limited to Caatinga and Atlantic Forest phytogeographic domains. This study aimed<br/>to investigate aspects of flowering, floral biology and the pollination mechanism of I. eriocalyx in an urban<br/>remnant of Atlantic Forest, Bahia, including ecological data. Flowering and fruiting of I. eriocalyx were continuous <br/>throughout the year. Flowers are showy, infundibiliform, with diurnal anthesis, and offer pollen<br/>and possibly nectar as floral resources. Although they present melittophilous features, the flowers are also<br/>attractive to other flower visitors, such as butterflies, flies and beetles. Ipomoea eriocalyx is self-compatible<br/>and has bees [(Ceratina (Crewella) spp. Melitoma segmentaria] as the main pollinators, a fact that could<br/>favor its establishment in anthropogenic environments.<br/><br/>Key words: Apoidea, ephemeral flowers, melittophily, ruderal plant, vine. |
