| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>Abstract<br/><br/>Aiming to increase the knowledge concerning the canga vegetation of the Serra dos Carajás, a taxonomic treatment<br/>of the Piperaceae species was prepared. Thirty species were recorded for the region, of which 20 taxa were found<br/>growing on canga substrate (ferruginous rupicolous vegetation). The majority of the species studied belong to Piper<br/>(23 species). The first record of P. goeldii for the state of Pará is presented, while the fruit of P. pellitum is described<br/>for the first time. Two out of seven Peperomia species studied - P. albopilosa and P. pseudoserratirhachis are described <br/>as new. Identification keys, detailed descriptions, geographical distribution and comments for taxa, besides<br/>illustrations of those poorly known or that are reported for the first time in the region, are provided.<br/><br/>Key words: Brazilian Amazon, FLONA Carajás, new Peperomia species, new records, Piper.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Resumo<br/><br/>Com o objetivo de ampliar o conhecimento sobre a vegetação de canga da Serra dos Carajás, foi realizado um<br/>tratamento taxonômico das espécies de Piperaceae. Foram registradas 30 espécies na região, sendo que 20<br/>táxons foram encontrados crescendo sobre o substrato de canga (vegetação rupestre ferruginosa). A maioria<br/>das espécies estudadas pertence ao gênero Piper (23 espécies). O primeiro registro de P. goeldii para o estado<br/>do Pará é apresentado, enquanto o fruto de P. pellitum é descrito pela primeira vez. Duas das sete espécies de<br/>Peperomia estudadas - P. albopilosa e P. pseudoserratirhachis são aqui descritas como novas. São fornecidas<br/>chaves de identificação, descrições detalhadas, distribuição geográfica e comentários para os táxons, além de<br/>ilustrações para aqueles pouco conhecidos ou registrados pela primeira vez na região.<br/><br/>Palavras-chave: Amazônia brasileira, FLONA Carajás, novas espécies de Peperomia, novos registros, Piper. |
