| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/><br/>Resumo <br/><br/>O Herbário Fitopatológico Verlande Duarte Silveira (UFRJ) é considerado um dos dez mais antigos do Brasil, tendo iniciado sua coleção em 1916 na antiga Escola Nacional de Agronomia (ENA), hoje Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). O seu acervo é de inestimável valor histórico e científico por abrigar coleções de Arsène Puttemans, Heitor Vinícius da Silveira Grillo, André Maublanc e Eugenio Rangel além de Verlande Duarte Silveira. Ciente da sua importância para a comunidade científica e da necessidade de tomar ações que promovam a sua recuperação e funcionalidade, atualmente, o herbário UFRJ vem passando por melhorias como a criação de um banco de dados (BD) para catalogação das informações contidas nas exsicatas, substituição dos envelopes deteriorados e, organização física do seu acervo, assim como a adoção de procedimentos padronizados. Destacamos a criação do BD no Programa Microsoft® Office Access® , pois facilita a busca pelas exsicatas contidas no acervo e demonstramos o resultado com a seleção de registros contendo vários gêneros de importância fitopatológica, dentre os quais, o gênero Colletotrichum. Todas estas ações visam otimizar seu uso e tornar acessível, principalmente para a comunidade científica, toda a informação contida neste acervo. <br/>Palavras-chave: biodiversidade, coleção, Colletotrichum, exsicatas, fitopatógenos. <br/><br/><br/><br/>Abstract <br/><br/>The “Verlande Duarte Silveira” Phytopathological Herbarium (UFRJ) is considered one of the ten oldest in Brazil, having started its collection in 1916 in the former National School of Agronomy (ENA), now Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). Its collection is of inestimable historical and scientific value because it houses collections of Arsène Puttemans, Heitor Vinícius da Silveira Grillo, André Maublanc, Eugenio Rangel, and Verlande Duarte Silveira. Aware of its importance to the scientific community and the needs of taking action to promote its recovering and restore its functionality, the UFRJ Herbarium has been undergoing improvements such as the implementation of databases to store all information contained in the exsiccates, the replacement of damaged envelopes and the physical organization of its collection, as well as the adoption of standardized procedures. We highlighted the creation of the databases using Microsoft® Office Access® Program, because it makes the search for the exsiccates contained in the collection feasible, which is demonstrated with the selection of records containing several genera of phytopathological importance, including the genus Colletotrichum.
