| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/><br/>RESUMO: Com a crescente demanda por sementes e mudas de espécies florestais para realizar seu plantio, se faz necessário estudar a ecofisiologia dessas espécies. O objetivo foi descrever as características morfológicas externas dos frutos, características morfológicas externas e internas das sementes, das fases de germinação e da plântula de sucupira-preta (Bowdichia virgilioides Kunth). Os frutos são do tipo samaroide, secos e indeiscentes. As sementes são ovoides, achatadas, possuem hilo circular alaranjado, circundado por arilo de cor branca, rafe bem visível, possuem cotilédones com reserva e eixo embrionário curto, com tamanho total e invaginado. A germinação é fanero-epígea-foliácea, unipolar, com eixo entre os cotilédones. As folhas cotiledonares são verdes e com reservas, formato arredondado. As sementes apresentam padrão trifásico de embebição de água, nas quais as fases I e II tiveram duração de 24 h, atingindo 53 e 57% de teor de água, respectivamente, enquanto a fase III de embebição iniciou-se 48 h após a semeadura. As sementes estabilizaram a formação de plântulas normais aos 14 dias após semeadura, atingindo 97% de germinação. A emissão de raiz primária teve início aos dois dias e a plântula ficou totalmente formada aos 14 dias após a semeadura. | Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/><br/>ABSTRACT: With the growing demand for seeds and seedlings of forest species for cultivation, it is necessary to study these species’ ecophysiology. This work aimed to illustrate and describe the Bowdichia virgilioides Kunth fruits external morphological features, seeds external and internal morphology, and stages of germination and seedling. The fruits are samaroide, dry and indehiscent type. The seeds are oval, flattened, with orange circular hilum surrounded by aryl white, very visible raphe, reserve cotyledons and short, full sized and invaginated embryonic axis. The germination is epigeal-phanero-foliacea, unipolar, with axis between the cotyledons. The cotyledon leaves are green with reserves, and round shaped. The seeds have triphasic pattern of water imbibition, in which phases I and II lasted 24 hours, reaching 53 and 57% water content, respectively, while the stage III imbibition was started 48 hours after seeding. The seeds stabilized formation of normal plants 14 days after sowing, reaching 97% germination. Root emission began the two days later and the seedling is fully formed at 14 days after sowing.
