| Nota de conteúdo | Allelopathic potential of forage watermelon (Citrullus lanatus cv. citroides) on seed germination Allelopathy is a phenomenon that arouses great interest as a source of new chemical structures that promote inhibitory and stimulatory effects on the germination, growth and development of organisms. The present work sought to evaluate the allelopathic action of the pulp extract of the forage watermelon through the study of the germination of the bean seeds. The research was conducted at the Seed Laboratory (LASEM) of the Department of Plant Science at the Center of Agricultural Sciences -CCA, Universidade Federal do Piauí -UFPI, in Teresina -PI, from October to November 2018. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, with 4 replicates, with treatments represented by five concentrations of the extract of the forage watermelon pulp, being: 0%; 25%; 50%; 75% and 100%. The effects become pronounced on the percent germination concentration of 25% onwards. The data from the emergency speed index suggest that concentrations above 25% of the pulp extract provide low germination speed index it being possible to affirm that the extract of the pulp of forage watermelon presents allelopathic properties, capable of causing drastic inhibition of the germination of the seeds, depending on the concentration used.<br/><br/>Keyworks: phytochemicals, bioactive substances, seed analysis, echophysiology |

| Nota de conteúdo | A alelopatia é um fenômeno que desperta bastante interesse como fonte de novas estruturas químicas, que promovem efeitos inibidores e estimulantes, na germinação, crescimento e desenvolvimento dos organismos. O presente trabalho buscou avaliar a ação alelopática do extrato da polpa da melancia forrageira por meio do estudo da germinação das sementes do feijão de porco. A pesquisa foi condu-zida no Laboratório de Sementes (LASEM) do Departamento de Fitotecnia no Centro de Ciências Agrárias -CCA, da Universidade Federal do Piauí –UFPI, em Teresina –PI, no período de outubro a novembro de 2018. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, com 4 repetições, com os tratamentos representados por cinco concentrações do extrato da polpa de melancia forrageira, sendo: 0%; 25%; 50%; 75% e 100%. Os efeitos tornam-se pronunciados sobre a porcentagem de germinação da concentração de 25% em diante. Os dados do índice de velocidade de emergência sugerem que concentrações acima de 25% do extrato da polpa proporciona baixo índice de velocidade de germinação, sendo possível afirmar que o extrato da polpa da melancia forrageira apresenta propriedades alelopáticas, capaz de provocar inibição drástica da germinação das sementes, dependendo da concentração utilizada.<br/>Palavras-chaves: fitoquímicos, substâncias bioativas, análise das sementes, ecofisiologia<br/> |
