RESUMO:

A despeito do diagnóstico precoce e dos avanços no tratamento do câncer de mama,
a morbidade e a mortalidade associadas a esta doença permanecem elevadas. O Resveratrol
(3,5,4´-trihidroxiestilbeno), presente em altas concentrações na uva e no vinho tinto, tem sido
associado a benefícios à saúde humana, como antitumoral, anti-inflamatório, antioxidante,
entre outros. O objetivo deste trabalho é fazer uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o potencial do
Resveratrol como quimioterápico para o câncer de mama. Para realizar este estudo utilizou-se de
pesquisa em fontes disponíveis no meio eletrônico. O período de referência utilizado foi aquele
compreendido entre 2000 e 2015 e as principais palavras chaves utilizadas foram: “resveratrol
e câncer de mama”. Foram encontrados diversos estudos mostrando o efeito antitumoral
do Resveratrol em modelos in vivo e in vitro de câncer de mama, com efeito em diversos
parâmetros celulares e moleculares. Embora a revisão tenha mostrado que a suplementação
de Resveratrol pode ter muitos benefícios na diminuição do risco de câncer de mama, alguns
estudos mostraram ausência de efeito ou efeito negativo sobre estes tumores, indicando que
um maior cuidado deve ser tomado ao transpor os resultados obtidos em modelos animais
para os seres humanos.

ABSTRACT:

Study on the potential of resveratrol as chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Besides the early diagnostic and the breast cancer treatment advances, the mortality and
morbidity related to this disease remain high. Resveratrol (3,5,4’-trihydroxystilbene), present in
high concentrations in grapes and red wine, has been associated with human health benefits
such as anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, among others. The objective of this work
is to review the literature on the potential of Resveratrol as chemotherapy for breast cancer.
To carry out this study, sources available in electronic media were used. The reference period
was that between 2000 and 2015 and the main key words used were: “resveratrol and breast
cancer”. We found several studies showing the antitumor effect of resveratrol in in vivo and in
vitro breast cancer models, with effect in several cellular and molecular parameters. Although
the review has shown that supplementation of resveratrol can have many benefits in reducing
the risk of breast cancer, some studies have shown no effect or a negative effect on these
tumors, indicating that greater care should be taken to implement the results obtained from
animal models to humans.
