Resumo
(Taxonomia de Machaerium incorruptibile (Vell.) Benth. e espécies afins (Leguminosae - Papilionoideae) na
Mata Atlântica) As espécies M. incorruptibile, M. fluminense, M. fulvovenosum, M. firmum e M. legale são
descritas e ilustradas. Os caracteres taxonômicos mais relevantes para a delimitação específica, bem como
habitat e distribuição geográfica são discutidos. São também apresentados novos dados sobre o hábito e as
características da flor de M. fluminense.

Abstract
(Taxonomy of Machaerium incorruptibile (Vell.) Benth. and allied species (Leguminosae - Papilionoideae) in
the Atlantic Forest) The species M. incorruptibile, M. fluminense, M. fulvovenosum, M. firmum and M.
legale are described and illustrated. The most relevant characters for species delimitation as well as the
preferred habitat and the geographic distribuition are discussed. New data concerning the habit and floral
traits of M. fluminense are also presented.
