Main production chains for the development of agroenergyin Northern Brazil: limitations and perspective. Research focused on bioenergy has been intensified in an attempt to meet the targets which were defined through the Kyoto Protocol (1997). Representing one of the branches of bioenergy are biofuels and among the links in the biofuel production chains, the agricultural link stands out for being the main component of the formulation of the final fuel price, thus there is a need to seek raw materials that collaborate to reduce prices, in addition to enabling the decentralization of production. The northern region of the country specifically, holds a wide variety of species which present themselves as viable options for reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Thus, studies aimed at the study of these chains and, especially, these links, are necessary in order to verify limiting factors as well as potential factors. Therefore, the objective was to elaborate a bibliographic review on the biodiesel and ethanol production chain, both focused on the limiting factors, potentials and perspectives for the development of agroenergy in the North region. It is concluded that the perspectives are positive for the development of agroenergy in the North region, through the verified cultures. However, factors contribute to the limitation of bottlenecks that demand technological development, planning and government incentives, in order to expand a biofuels production chain in the North region.

Pesquisas voltadas para a bioenergia foram intensificadas na tentativa de cumprir as metas definidas pelo Protocolo de Kyoto (1997). Os biocombustíveis representam um dos ramos da bioenergia e entre os elos da cadeia produtiva dos biocombustíveis, o elo agrícola se destaca por ser o principal componente da formulação do preço final do combustível, havendo assim a necessidade de se buscar matérias-primas que colaborem para a redução dos preços, além de possibilitar a descentralização da produção. A região Norte do Brasil, especificamente, detém uma ampla variedade de espécies, que se apresentam como opções viáveis para a redução da dependência de combustíveis fósseis. Desta forma, trabalhos voltados para o estudo das cadeias do biodiesel e do etanol, principalmente desses elos, são essenciais, a fim de verificar fatores limitantes, bem como suas potencialidades. Portanto, objetivou-se elaborar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre a cadeia produtiva do biodiesel e etanol, visando apontar os principais fatores limitantes, potenciais e perspectivas para o desenvolvimento da agroenergia na região Norte. Sendo possível concluir que as perspectivas são positivas para o desenvolvimento da agroenergia na região Norte, por meio das culturas descritas. No entanto, fatores contribuem para a limitação de gargalos que demandam desenvolvimento tecnológico, planejamento e incentivo governamental, a fim de expandira cadeia produtiva de biocombustíveis na região Norte.
