O cupuaçuzeiro é uma planta com expressiva importância socioeconômica na região Amazônica e, dentre os
fatores limitantes para seu cultivo estão os problemas fitossanitários. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse trabalho é
reportar a infestação de coleópteros da família Buprestidae em plantio comercial de cupuaçuzeiro, localizado no
distrito de Nova Califórnia, RO. Os sintomas de plantas infestadas são desfolha (parcial ou total), ramos ressecados
e presença de serragem na base do colo. Faz-se o primeiro registro de buprestídeos infestando plantio comercial de
cupuaçuzeiro no estado de Rondônia, bem como evidencia-se o potencial danoso deste inseto-praga, o qual pode
levar a planta à morte.

Record of Buprestidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) with harmful potential in a commercial cupuassu tree plantation, in Nova Califórnia, Rondônia state, Brazil.

The cupuassu is a plant with significant socioeconomic importance in the Amazon region and, among the limiting
factors for its cultivation are the phytosanitary problems. In this sense, the aim of this work is to report the
infestation of the Buprestidae family coleopterans in a commercial cupuassu tree plantation, located in the district
of Nova Califórnia, Rondônia state, Brazil. The symptoms of infested plants are defoliation (partial or total), dry
branches and the presence of sawdust at the base of the trunk. The first record of buprestids infesting commercial
cupuassu tree planting in the state of Rondônia is made, as well as the harmful potential of this insect pest, which
can lead the plant to death, is evidenced.
