RESUMO: 

O presente trabalho relata a análise por CG/EM do óleo essencial da própolis da cidade de Pio
IX, Piauí. Foram identificadas 17 substâncias, sendo cinco monoterpenos e 12 sesquiterpenos. 
Os constituintes majoritários do óleo são o p-cariofileno (12,20 %), óxido de cariofileno (13,53 %) 
e viridiflorol (12,45%).

ABSTRACT: 

Components ofthe propolis essential oil produced in the city of Pio IX, in the state of Piaui.
The present work reports the GC-MS analysis of the essential oil obtained from propolis produced in the
city of Pio IX, in the state of Piaui, Northeastern Brazil. Seventeen components were identified, from which
five were monoterpenes and 12, sesquiterpenes. The main volatile components were p-caryophyllene
(12.20 %), caryophyllene oxide (13.53 %) and viridiflorol (12.45 %).
