RESUMO: 

Ocimum selloi Benth. &#xE9; uma planta nativa da fam&#xED;lia Lamiaceae que ocorre nas regi&#xF5;es Sudeste
e Sul do Brasil, sendo utilizada como antidiarr&#xE9;ico, antiespasm&#xF3;dico e antiinflamat&#xF3;rio. O objetivo deste
trabalho foi avaliar a influ&#xEA;ncia da temperatura de secagem na produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o e na composi&#xE7;&#xE3;o qu&#xED;mica do &#xF3;leo
essencial de O.selloi. A produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o de &#xF3;leo essencial n&#xE3;o apresentou efeito significativo, ocorrendo perdas
de 22%, 40% e 72% nas secagens a 50&#xB0;C, 60&#xB0;C e 70&#xB0;C, respectivamente, considerando-se o teor obtido a
40&#xB0;C como 100%. As subst&#xE2;ncias majorit&#xE1;rias encontradas foram elimicina (69,83%), o trans-cariofileno
(6%), o germacreno D (3,7%) e o biciclogermacreno (3,5%). O aumento da temperatura de secagem (40&#xB0;C,
50&#xB0;C, 60&#xB0;C e 70&#xB0;C) causou uma diminui&#xE7;&#xE3;o na propor&#xE7;&#xE3;o relativa dos monoterpenos (8%, 7%, 6% e 1%,
respectivamente) e sesquiterpenos (20%, 15%, 7% e 2%, respectivamente). Conclu&#xED;mos assim que, dentre
as temperaturas de secagem utilizadas no estudo, a de 40&#xB0;C &#xE9; a mais recomendada para o O.selloi.

ABSTRACT: 

Influence of drying temperature on yield and chemical content of Ocimum selloi Benth
essential oil. Ocimum selloi Benth. is a plant of the Lamiaceae family native of the south and southeast
regions of Brazil, commonly known as paregoric elixir, anis, alfavaquinha and atroveran. Therapeutic properties
as antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory e anti-diarrheic has been reported for this species. The aim of this
study was to evaluate the drying temperature influence on essential oil chemical composition and yield of
leaves. Temperature don&#x2019;t significantly influenced the essential oil yield, resulting on losses of 22%, 40% e
72% in the 50&#xB0;C, 60&#xB0;C e 70&#xB0;C levels, respectively, considering the yield obtained in the temperature of 40&#xB0;C
as 100%. The major components found were elimicin (69,83%), trans-caryophyllene (6%), germacrene D
(3,7%) and bicyclogermacrene (3,5%). Increases in drying temperature (40&#xB0;C, 50&#xB0;C, 60&#xB0;C and 70&#xB0;C) resulted
on decreases in the relative proportion of monoterpenes (8%, 7%, 6% and 1%, respectively) and
sesquiterpenes (20%, 15%, 7% and 2%, respectively). We concluded that, among the drying temperatures
tested, that of 40&#xB0;C resulted in better essential oil yield and thus is recommended for O.selloi.
