RESUMO: 

Duguetia furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B et H., Anonaceae, &#xE9; conhecida popularmente como araticum do
campo ou araticum do cerrado. O ch&#xE1; de suas folhas &#xE9; indicado na medicina popular para combater c&#xF3;licas
e diarr&#xE9;ia. Na literatura cient&#xED;fica, poucos s&#xE3;o os trabalhos com Duguetia e nenhum descreve a toxicidade
dessa planta. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a poss&#xED;vel a&#xE7;&#xE3;o abortiva e t&#xF3;xica do extrato aquoso de
Duguetia furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B et H em ratas prenhez (Rattus norvegicus da linhagem heterog&#xEA;nica Wistar).
A extra&#xE7;&#xE3;o foi feita por macera&#xE7;&#xE3;o a quente e a frio nas concentra&#xE7;&#xF5;es de 5% (quente/24horas) e 5%, 10%
e 20% (a frio) (p/V), al&#xE9;m do controle que recebeu &#xE1;gua e ra&#xE7;&#xE3;o. Os extratos foram administrados por
gavagem (1 mL/rata) em ratas prenhes, durante a pr&#xE9;-implanta&#xE7;&#xE3;o do blastocisto at&#xE9; a organog&#xEA;nese (5o
ao 9o dia de prenhez). No 19&#xB0; dia de prenhez, os animais foram anestesiados por inala&#xE7;&#xE3;o com &#xE9;ter e
submetidos a laparotomia e histerectomia, quando foram avaliados o peso e tamanho dos fetos, n&#xFA;mero
de corpos l&#xFA;teos (para averigua&#xE7;&#xE3;o de aborto ou prenhez), peso dos ov&#xE1;rios, &#xFA;tero, placenta, p&#xE2;ncreas, rins,
f&#xED;gado e das ratas m&#xE3;es (1o, 5o, 9o e 19&#xB0;). As ratas tratadas apresentaram forte diarr&#xE9;ia, epistaxe e prurido.
Houve ainda, perda de peso corporal m&#xE9;dio e hepatomegalia. Nas concentra&#xE7;&#xF5;es 5% e 10% a frio ocorreu
maior reabsor&#xE7;&#xE3;o em forma de cistos, evidenciando aborto, que embora n&#xE3;o tenha sido significativo, foi
maior nas ratas tratadas, caracterizado tamb&#xE9;m pelos corpos l&#xFA;teos tanto no ov&#xE1;rio direito quanto no
esquerdo. Esses resultados demonstram que, do ponto de vista de uma abordagem cl&#xED;nica, Duguetia
furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B et H. apresentou efeito t&#xF3;xico nas ratas prenhes.

ABSTRACT: 

Toxicity ofaqueous extract of Duguetia furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B et H. in rats (Rattus norvegicus).
Duguetia furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B. et H., Anonaceae, is popularly known as &#x201C;araticum do campo&#x201D; or &#x201C;araticum do
cerrado&#x201D;. Tea of their leaves is indicated in popular medicine to eliminate colics, diarrhea and hemorrhage of
uterus. On cientific literature there are little works about Duguetia and any one describes the toxicity ofthat plant.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the possible abortive and toxic action of aqueous extract of Duguetia
furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B et H. in pregnant rats (Rattus norvegicus of heterogenic Wistar lineage). Extraction was
done by maceration at hot and at cold in concentrations of 5% (hot/24 hours) and 5%, 10% and 20% (at cold) (p/
V), besides control that receved water and ration. Extrats were administered by gavage (1mL/rats) in pregnant
rats, during pre-implantation of blastocyst until organogenesis (5&#xB0; to 9&#xB0; day of pregnancy). On 19&#xB0; day of
pregnancy, animals were anesthetized by inhalation of ether and submited to laparatomy and hysterectomy,
when number, weight and size of fetus, number of luteous bodies (to verification of abort or pregnancy), weight
of ovary, uterus, placenta, pancreas, kidney, liver and mother rats (1&#xB0;, 5&#xB0;, 9&#xB0; and 19&#xB0;) were evaluated. Treated rats
showed: strong diarrhea, epistaxis and itch. There was also medium body weight loss and hepatomegaly. In
concentrations of 5% and 10% at cold occured great reabsorption in cyst forms, which evidenced abort, that
although it had not be significative, it was higher in treated rats, which was characterized also by luteous bodies
as in right ovary as in left ovary. Those results demonstrated that, from the point of view of a clinic approach,
Duguetia furfuraceae (St. Hil.) B et H. showed toxic effect in pregnant rats.
