Mentha piperita &#xE9; uma das mentas mais importantes no universo das plantas
medicinais e arom&#xE1;ticas. A planta &#xE9; propagada preferencialmente via estacas da parte a&#xE9;rea e
de estol&#xF5;es a&#xE9;reos e subterr&#xE2;neos. As estacas enra&#xED;zam facilmente permitindo que se especule
sobre modos de aumentar a efici&#xEA;ncia da produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o de mudas variando tipos e tamanhos de
estacas e os substratos de enraizamento. Foram realizados dois ensaios que estudaram a
possibilidade de otimiza&#xE7;&#xE3;o do m&#xE9;todo, reduzindo o tamanho do prop&#xE1;gulo e ampliando as
op&#xE7;&#xF5;es para meios de enraizamento. No ensaio n&#xFA;mero 1 foram testados em casa de vegeta&#xE7;&#xE3;o,
quatro tipos de estacas de estol&#xE3;o a&#xE9;reo de M. piperita quanto ao n&#xFA;mero de n&#xF3;s (0,5; 1; 2
e 3). O enraizamento das estacas foi feito com dois meios de enraizamento: &#xE1;gua em placas
de Petri e substrato artesanal confeccionado na pr&#xF3;pria esta&#xE7;&#xE3;o experimental, em vasos.
Os melhores resultados foram obtidos com estacas de tr&#xEA;s n&#xF3;s, enraizadas previamente em
substrato artesanal, embora mudas de todos os tratamentos tenham-se apresentado como
vi&#xE1;veis. O ensaio n&#xFA;mero 2 testou cinco meios de enraizamento em estacas de tr&#xEA;s n&#xF3;s:
substrato artesanal; substrato comercial; areia adubada; areia comum e c&#xE2;mara &#xFA;mida. As
massas secas das mudas enraizadas no substrato artesanal e na areia adubada n&#xE3;o diferiram
estatisticamente entre si, tendo sido superiores &#xE0;s dos demais tratamentos.

ABSTRACT: 

Rooting of cuttings of aerial stolons of Mentha piperita L. of different sizes in
different substrates. Mentha piperita is one of the most important mints in the universe of the
medicinal and aromatic plants. This plant species is propagated preferential by cuts of the aerial
part and underground stolons. The cuts take root easily allowing people to speculate on ways to
increase the efficiency of the method asking for types and sizes of cuts and rooting media. Two
assays had been carried out in order to study the possibility of improving the method, having
reduced the size of the cut and extending the options for rooting media. In the first assay they
had been tested in vegetation house, four types of cuts of aerial stolons of M. piperita varying the
number of nodes (0.5; 1; 2 and 3). The rooting of the cuts was made with two media of rooting:
water in plates of Petri and the homemade substratum confectioned in the proper experimental
station, in vases. The best results had been gotten with cuts of three nodes, previously taken
root in the homemade substratum, even all the treatments have been presented as viable.
The second assay we tested five rooting media in three nodes cuts: homemade substratum;
commercial substratum; fertilized sand; common sand and humid chamber. The dry masses
of the cuts taken root in the homemade substratum and in the fertilized sand had not differed
statistically between themselves, having been superior to the remaining treatments.
