RESUMO:

Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito de diferentes per&#xED;odos de estresse
h&#xED;drico sobre a capacidade fotossint&#xE9;tica, o crescimento, os teores de &#xF3;leo essencial e de citral
de capim-lim&#xE3;o (Cymbopogon citratus). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos
casualizados, com 4 repeti&#xE7;&#xF5;es, em esquema fatorial 2 x 6, sendo 2 condi&#xE7;&#xF5;es de cultivo:
plantas com e sem restri&#xE7;&#xE3;o h&#xED;drica; e 6 per&#xED;odos de estresse h&#xED;drico: 0, 2, 7, 8, 11 e 13 dias
de suspens&#xE3;o da irriga&#xE7;&#xE3;o antes da colheita. Durante o experimento, foram avaliados o teor de
clorofila, crescimento (comprimento da nervura central da folha e mat&#xE9;ria seca da parte a&#xE9;rea e
radicular), as trocas gasosas, os teores de &#xF3;leo essencial e de citral. Os resultados mostraram
que a restri&#xE7;&#xE3;o h&#xED;drica afetou negativamente a taxa fotossint&#xE9;tica l&#xED;quida, a transpira&#xE7;&#xE3;o, o
teor de clorofila, o comprimento da nervura central e a massa seca da parte a&#xE9;rea. Entretanto,
em compara&#xE7;&#xE3;o com as plantas sem restri&#xE7;&#xE3;o, os teores de &#xF3;leo essencial e de citral foram
influenciados positivamente.

ABSTRACT: 

Contents of essential oil, citral, photosynthetic capacity, and growth in
lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf.) under water stress. The objective of this
study was to evaluate the effect of different periods of water stress as a function of photosynthetic
capacity, growth, essential oil and citral contents of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus). The
experimental design was a randomized block design with four replications in a factorial 2 x 6,
that is, 2 conditions: plants with and without water restriction; and 6 periods of water stress: 0,
2, 7, 8, 11, and 13 days of the irrigation suspension before harvesting. During this study, we
evaluated the chlorophyll content, growth (length of the midrib of the leaf, dry weight of shoots
and roots), gas exchange, and the contents of essential oil and citral. Our results showed that the
water restriction had a negative effect on the net photosynthetic rate, transpiration, chlorophyll
content, midrib length, and dry weight of shoots. However, in comparison to the plants without
water restriction, the contents of essential oil and citral were positively influenced.
