RESUMO: 

Tropaeolum L. é um gênero de Tropaeolaceae com inúmeros usos, incluindo
ornamental, medicinal e alimentício. Visando ressaltar a importância deste gênero como
potencial fonte de recursos agro-econômicos, apresentamos uma revisão sobre seu uso
etnobotânico, composição química e ação farmacológica.

  <abstract>

ABSTRACT: 

Tropaeolum L.: a plant with several agro economic potential uses. Tropaeolum
L. is a plant of Tropaeolaceae genus with several applications, including ornamental, medicinal
and food uses. Aiming to emphasize the importance of this genus as a potential agro-economic
resource, we here review of its chemical composition and pharmacological effect, including
related botanical, ecological, and agronomic aspects.
