RESUMO: 

Atividade antimicrobiana do Allium sativum contra cinetobacter baumannii
multidroga resistente. O alho (Allium sativum) &#xE9; conhecido por sua atividade antibacteriana,
antif&#xFA;ngica e antiviral. Hoje em dia a busca por terapias alternativas se faz necess&#xE1;ria devido ao
n&#xFA;mero crescente de cepas multi-resistentes. Assim, no presente trabalho procurou-se avaliar
a atividade antimicrobiana do alho em diferentes formas e determinar a concentra&#xE7;&#xE3;o inibit&#xF3;ria
m&#xED;nima de alho macerado em quatro cepas de Acinetobacter baumannii multi-resistentes.
Foram testados alho fresco in natura, alho frito e alho em conserva (sem sal), al&#xE9;m de alho
macerado em concentra&#xE7;&#xF5;es de 0,5, 1, 2, 4 e 6 g de alho em 30 ml de &#xE1;gua destilada. O alho
e suas diferentes formas foram testados em quatro estirpes resistentes a m&#xFA;ltiplos antibi&#xF3;ticos
de Acinetobacter baumannii utilizando o m&#xE9;todo de difus&#xE3;o em &#xE1;gar. A menor concentra&#xE7;&#xE3;o
de alho que inibiu o crescimento das cepas foi considerada como Concentra&#xE7;&#xE3;o M&#xED;nima
Inibit&#xF3;ria. Os resultados do alho fresco in natura, do alho em conserva e do alho macerado nas
concentra&#xE7;&#xF5;es de 2, 4 e 6 g em 30 ml mostraram um efeito inibidor dependente da dose em
todas as cepas testadas. Portanto, a atividade antimicrobiana de Allium sativum, utilizando-o
em natura, alho em conserva e macerado em diferentes concentra&#xE7;&#xF5;es, mostrou-se eficaz na
inibi&#xE7;&#xE3;o do crescimento de Acinetobacter baumannii multi resistente.

ABSTRACT: 

Garlic (Allium sativum) is known by its antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral
activities. Because of the increasing number of multidrug resistant (MDR) strains, nowadays
the search for alternative therapies has been more necessary. Thus, it was sought to evaluate
the antimicrobial activity of garlic in different forms and to determine the minimum inhibitory
concentration of macerated garlic in four multidrug resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii.
Fresh garlic in natura, fried garlic and pickled garlic (unsalted), besides macerated garlic in
concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2, 4, and 6 g of garlic in 30 ml of distilled water. Garlic and its different
forms were tested in four multidrug resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii using the agar
diffusion method. The lowest concentration of garlic that has inhibited the growth of the strains
was considered as Minimum Inhibitory Concentration. The results of fresh garlic in natura,
pickled garlic and macerated garlic in the concentrations of 2, 4 and 6 g in 30 ml has shown a
dose-dependent inhibitory effect in all tested strains. Therefore, the antimicrobial activity of Allium
sativum, using it in natura, pickled and macerated garlic in different concentrations, proved to
be effective in the inhibition of multidrug resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii growth.
