RESUMO: 

Em n&#xED;vel mundial t&#xEA;m aumentado a resist&#xEA;ncia de pat&#xF3;genos as drogas j&#xE1; utilizadas
no controle de microrganismos patog&#xEA;nicos aos seres humanos, impulsionando para avan&#xE7;os
nos estudos com produtos naturais visando o isolamento de subst&#xE2;ncias bioativas para obten&#xE7;&#xE3;o
de novos f&#xE1;rmacos. Sendo assim, esse estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a toxicidade do &#xF3;leo
essencial das folhas de Ocotea puberula (frente ao bioensaio com Artemia salina. As folhas
de O. puberula foram coletadas no S&#xED;tio Che Kamba&#x2019;i, no Munic&#xED;pio de Mundo Novo/MS em
mar&#xE7;o de 2014. O &#xF3;leo essencial foi obtido por hidrodestila&#xE7;&#xE3;o e o bioensaio frente A. salina
foi realizado em diferentes concentra&#xE7;&#xF5;es. O teste de A. salina mostrou uma DL50 igual a 10,3
&#xB5;g/ml, indicando que o &#xF3;leo essencial de O. puberula pode ser considerado t&#xF3;xico e uma CL50,
letal para 50% dos crust&#xE1;ceos, na dose de 3,9 &#xB5;g/ml, correspondente a altamente t&#xF3;xico. Esses
resultados demonstram o potencial dessa esp&#xE9;cie para a biotecnologia de f&#xE1;rmacos, com
grande interesse para aplica&#xE7;&#xE3;o antitumoral. Outros ensaios biol&#xF3;gicos s&#xE3;o necess&#xE1;rios para
subsidiar pesquisas com O. puberula. A extra&#xE7;&#xE3;o do &#xF3;leo essencial das folhas n&#xE3;o compromete
a integridade da esp&#xE9;cie durante seu crescimento e desenvolvimento, j&#xE1; que atualmente &#xE9; uma
esp&#xE9;cie quase amea&#xE7;ada de extin&#xE7;&#xE3;o.

ABSTRACT &#x2013; 

Evaluation of the toxicity of essential oil from leaves of Ocotea puberula
against Artemia salina. Worldwide, the resistance of pathogens has increased as drugs
already used in the control of pathogenic microorganisms to humans, expanding to advances
in studies with natural products for the protection of bioactive substances for the protection of
new agents. Thus, the study had the effect of evaluating the toxicity of the essential oil of the
leaves of Ocotea puberula in comparison to the bioassay with Artemia salina. The leaves of
O. puberula were collected at the Che Kamba&#x2019;i Site, in the Municipality of Mundo Novo/MS in
March 2014. The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation and bioassay before A. salina
was performed in different concentrations. The test of A. salina is equal to DL50 equal to 10.3
&#x3BC;g/ml that is, the dose of 50% of the crustaceans, in the dose of 3.9 &#x3BC;g/ml, corresponding to a
highly toxic. Results showed potential for a biotechnology of drugs, with great interest for the
antitumor application. Other biological studies are needed to support research with O. puberula.
Extraction of essential oil from leaves is not one of the most difficult forms of extinction.
