RESUMO

(Swartzia (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae, Swartzieae s.l.) na Reserva Natural da Companhia Vale doRioDoce,
Linhares, ES, Brasil). Este trabalho consiste da taxonomia, com o auxílio de observações de campo dostáxons,
de Swartzia na Reserva Natural da Companhia Vale doRio Doce. Além da chave de identificação e descrições
detalhadas para cada um dos oito táxons detectados neste trabalho, são apresentadas observações sobre o
porte, aspecto externo e interno da casca, com fotografias para todas as espécies, sendo que foram atribuídos
padrões da casca externa para cada um dos táxons. Swartzia apetala var. apetala é encontrada nos mais
diversos habitats presentes na área de estudo, enquanto S. acutifolia, S. apetala var. glabra, S. linharensis,
S. myrtifolia var. elegans e S. simplex var. ochnacea são encontradassomente na Floresta Alta deTerra Firme
e S. macrostachya var. macrostachya, na área focada aqui, é exclusiva do Campo Nativo. S. myrtifolia var.
elegans e S. simplex var. ochnacea são os únicos táxons que não apresentam casca descamante.

ABSTRACT

(Swartzia (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae, Swartzieae s.l.) in the “Reserva Natural da Companhia Vale doRio
Doce”, Linhares, ES, Brazil). This study consists of the taxonomy, with the use of field observations, to
distinguish among taxa of Swartzia occuring in the “Reserva Natural da Companhia Vale do Rio Doce”.
Besides the key to identify and the detailed descriptions to each one of the eight taxa detected in this study
we present observations on the size, internal and external aspects on the bark, with photographs of all taxa,
where we attributed patterns of external bark to all of them. S. apetala var. apetala is found in all different
habitats present in the studied site, while S. acutifolia, S. apetala var. glabra, S. linharensis, S. myrtifolia var.
elegans, and S.simplex var. ochnacea are found just in the “FlorestaAlta deTerra Firme” and S. macrostachya
var. macrostachya, in the area focused here, is exclusive of the “Campo Nativo”. S. myrtifolia var. elegans
and S. simplex var. ochnacea are the only taxa that do not have bark that peels off.
