Resumo: A  orizicultura  &#xE9;  uma  atividade  com  grande  import&#xE2;ncia  na  agricultura  mundial.  Entre  as  doen&#xE7;as que  incidem  na  cultura  do  arroz,  as  manchas  de  gr&#xE3;os  constituem  um  s&#xE9;rio  problema.  Levantamentos sanit&#xE1;rios  demonstraram  a  presen&#xE7;a  de  sementes  de  arroz  contaminadas  com  o  fungo Exserohilum rostratum, alertando para um novo agente disseminado via semente. O objetivo do trabalho foi identificar as altera&#xE7;&#xF5;es  fisiol&#xF3;gicas  ocasionadas  por E.  rostratum em sementes  de  arroz.  Sementes  das  cultivares  BRS Pampa,  BRS  Pelota,  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  e  BRS  Taim  foram  inoculadas  com E.  rostratum e  posteriormente, avaliadas quanto &#xE0; germina&#xE7;&#xE3;o, comprimento e massa seca de parte a&#xE9;rea e raiz, condutividade el&#xE9;trica e atividade  respirat&#xF3;ria.  Os  resultados  demostraram  o  efeito  negativo  do  fungo E.  rostratum sobre  a germina&#xE7;&#xE3;o de todas as cultivares. Pl&#xE2;ntulas das cultivares BRS Taim e BRS Pelota apresentaram menorescomprimentos  da  parte  a&#xE9;rea  quando  comparadas  &#xE0;s  sementes  n&#xE3;o  inoculadas.  As  cultivares  BRS Quer&#xEA;ncia e BRS Taim apresentaram menor comprimento de raiz na presen&#xE7;a do fungo, com redu&#xE7;&#xF5;es de 17,7  e  17,0%,  respectivamente. A  massa  seca  da  parte  a&#xE9;rea  das  cultivares  BRS  Taim  e  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia apresentaram  redu&#xE7;&#xF5;es  de  12,0  e  9,6%,  respectivamente.  Quanto  &#xE0;  massa  seca  da  raiz,  as  maiores redu&#xE7;&#xF5;es  de  peso  foram  observadas  nas  cultivares  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  e  BRS  Pampa.  Sementes  inoculadas das  cultivares  BRS  Pampa,  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  e  BRS  Pelota  apresentaram  as  menores  condutividades el&#xE9;tricas.  A  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  demonstrou  aumento  de  33,3%  da  atividade  respirat&#xF3;ria  em  sementes inoculadas.  A  presen&#xE7;a  de E.  rostratum provoca  altera&#xE7;&#xF5;es  fisiol&#xF3;gicas  nas  sementes  das  cultivares estudadas

Abstract: Rice  cultivation  is  activity  of  great  importance  in  world  agriculture.  Grain  smearing  is  a  serious problem  in  the  crop  and  can  cause  significant  losses  in  production.  Sanitary  surveys  demonstrated  the presence  of  rice  seed  contaminated  with Exserohilum  rostratum,  alerting  to  a  new  agent  disseminated  by seeds. The  aim  of  this  work  was  to  evaluate  the  physiological  changes  caused  by  E.  rostratum  in  seeds of different  rice  cultivars.  Seeds  of  cultivars  BRS  Pampa,  BRS  Pelota,  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  and  BRS  Taim  were inoculated  with E.  rostratum  and  later  evaluated  for  germination,  length  and  dry  mass  of  shoot  and  root, electrical conductivity and respiratory activity.According to the results, the negative effect of E. rostratum on the germination of all cultivars was observed. Seedlings of the cultivars BRS Taim and BRS Pelota showed lower  lengths  of  shoot.  The  cultivars  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  and  BRS  Taim  showed  lower  root  length  in  the presence of the fungus, with reductions of 17.7 and 17.0% respectively. The dry mass of the aerial part of the cultivars  BRS  Taim  and  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  showed  reductions  of  12.0  and  9.6%,  respectively.Regarding  the dry  mass  of  the  root,  the  greatest  weight  reductions  were  observed  in  cultivars  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  and  BRS Pampa.Inoculated  seeds  of  cultivars  BRS  Pampa,  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia  and  BRS  Pelota  showed  the  lowest electrical  conductivities.  BRS  Quer&#xEA;ncia,  showed  a 33.3%  increase  in  respiratory  activity  of  inoculated seeds. The presence of E. rostratum causes physiological changes in the seeds of the cultivars studied.
