Resumo:    Devido  ao  aumento  da  preocupa&#xE7;&#xE3;o  mundial  com  a  obten&#xE7;&#xE3;o  de  novas  fontes  renov&#xE1;veis  de combust&#xED;veis, surgiu a necessidade de se avaliar a viabilidade dos diferentes tipos de produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o. Para isso, uma  ferramenta  bastante  utilizada  &#xE9;  o  balan&#xE7;o  energ&#xE9;tico,  que  consiste  da  rela&#xE7;&#xE3;o  entre  a  energia  e  os custos investidos na produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o do combust&#xED;vel (inputs), e a energia relacionada aos rendimentos produzidos do potencial energ&#xE9;tico (outputs).  Existem diferentes culturas consideradas potenciais para a produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o de biodiesel  no  Brasil,  entre  elas,  o  nabo  forrageiro (Raphanus  sativus  L.).  Com  isso,  o  objetivo  foi  estimar  o balan&#xE7;o energ&#xE9;tico para a cultura do nabo forrageiro. A energia f&#xF3;ssil despendida na produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o de 540 kg de &#xF3;leo  de  nabo  forrageiro  por  hectare  foi  de  22127,43  MJ,  a  partir  da  produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o  de  1.200  kg.ha-1  de  gr&#xE3;os(45%  de  &#xF3;leo  e  55%  de  torta),  resultando  em  valor  do  balan&#xE7;o  energ&#xE9;tico  de  1,61.  Os  resultados  indicam que  &#xE9;  vi&#xE1;vel  a  produ&#xE7;&#xE3;o  do  biocombust&#xED;vel  a  partir da  respectiva  cultura,  mas  demonstram  tamb&#xE9;m necessidade de aperfei&#xE7;oamento das tecnologias empregadas para que se aumente a efici&#xEA;ncia energ&#xE9;tica.

Abstract:    Due  to  the  increasing  global  concern  about  obtaining  new  renewable  sources  of  fuel,  it&#x2019;s primordial  to  assess  the  feasibility  of  different  production  systems.  In  this  context,  a  widely  used  tool  is  the energy balance, which consists of the relationship between energy and the costs invested in fuel production, and  energy  related  to  outputs.  There  are  different crops  considered  as  potential  for  the  production  ofbiodiesel  in  Brazil,  among  them,  the  oilseed  radish  crop  (Raphanus  sativus  L.).  Thus,  the  objective  was  to estimate the energy balance for the oilseed radish crop.  Fossil energy expended in the production of 540 kg oilseed  radish  crop  oil  per  hectare  was  22127.43  MJ,  obtained  from  grain  yield  of  1200  kg.ha-1  for  oilseed radish  crop  (45%  oil,  55%  meal),  resulting  in  energy  balance  values  for  biodiesel  production  of  1.61. The indices  obtained  indicate  that  it  is  feasible  to  produce  biofuels  from  respective  crop,  but  also  demonstrate that investment in improved technologies may be necessary if this crop is to be considered competitive with other feedstocks.
