A pré-seleção juvenil do cafeeiro, selecionando cultivares que possuem características desejáveis que se correlacionam com a produtividade, pode auxiliar na escolha da cultivar adequada para cada ambiente. Dessa forma, objetivou-se avaliar o crescimento e os atributos morfológicos de cultivares de cafeeiro de porte baixo no primeiro ano de formação nas condições edafoclimáticas em Jaboticabal-SP. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, com dezoito cultivares e quatro repetições. Foram mensurados a altura de planta e o diâmetro de caule 60, 120, 180, 240 e 300 dias após plantio. O diâmetro da copa, a altura e comprimento do primeiro ramo plagiotrópico e o número de pares de folhas foram avaliados aos 12 meses após o plantio. As cultivares Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62 e Catucaí 2SL obtiveram maiores alturas de plantas. Os maiores diâmetros de caule foram observados nas cultivares IAC Ouro Amarelo, Obatã IAC 1669-20, Oeiras MG 6851, Pau Brasil MG1, Tupi IAC 125 e Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62. O diâmetro de copa foi superior nas cultivares IAC Ouro Amarelo, Catucaí 2SL, Sabiá, Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62, Sacramento MG1, Pau-Brasil MG1, Tupi IAC 125 e Tupi IAC 1669-33. As cultivares Oeiras MG 6851, Catuaí Vermelho IAC 99, Catuaí 2SL e Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62 apresentaram as maiores alturas do primeiro ramo plagiotrópico. O comprimento do ramo plagiotrópico e o número de pares de folhas por ramo, variáveis que contribuem com a produtividade, não diferiram entre as cultivares. The juvenile pre-selection of the coffee tree, selecting cultivars that have desirable characteristics correlated with productivity, can help in choosing the appropriate cultivar for each environment. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the growth and morphological attributes of coffee cultivars of small size in the first year of formation under edaphoclimatic conditions in Jaboticabal-SP. The cultivars Oeiras MG 6851, Catuaí Vermelho IAC 99, Catuaí 2SL and Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62 showed the highest heights of the first plagiotropic branch. The length of the plagiotropic branch and the number of pairs of leaves per branch, variables that contribute to productivity, did not differ among cultivars.
