O objetivo deste trabalho foi delimitar as APPs e mapear as classes de uso e cobertura da terra presentes na bacia do rio Piauitinga, no estado de Sergipe, averiguando se há conflitos de uso nas áreas de preservação. A demarcação das classes de uso e cobertura da terra ocorreu de forma manual, mediante a interpretação visual de imagens RapidEye. No mapeamento das APPs, foram utilizadas técnicas de geoprocessamento sobre as informações do relevo e a rede hidrográfica. A principal classe de uso e cobertura da terra mapeada foi a de pastagem (50,39%). Das três classes de APPs identificadas, ao longo dos cursos d’água (3,85%), lagos superficiais (0,80%) e ao redor das nascentes (0,08%), todas apresentaram conflito de uso e cobertura da terra. Pode-se afirmar que não está havendo respeito aos limites de APPs na bacia, principalmente em relação às áreas ao redor das nascentes, revelando, principalmente, conflito com a classe pastagem. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: RapidEye, Geoprocessamento, Uso da terra, SIG ABSTRACT: The human action over the natural resources in Brazil shows us that legislation has not been accomplished, mainly when the subject is Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs). The purpose of this work was to delimit the PPAs and to map the classes of land use and land cover present in the Piauitinga river basin, verifying the existence of land use conflicts in the PPAs. The demarcation of land use and land cover classes occurred manually, through the visual interpretation of images RaddiEye from the 2013 year. The delimitation of the PPAs proceeded based on the elevation digital model and hydrographic network information. The main land use and land cover classes mapped were farming culture (18.44%), native vegetation (22.69%) and pasture (53.11%). From the three PPAs classes identified, those through the water course (3.78%), superficial lakes (1.91%) and around the sources (0.07%), all of them presented land use and land cover conflict, being the pasture class the one with higher incidence (44.43%). Observing the current environmental law, it is possible to claim that there is a lack of respect to the PPAs limits on the Piauitinga river, mostly considering the areas around the source, showing a great land use and cover conflict of the use classes.
