Flora of Pernambuco, Brazil: Ipomoea (Convolvulaceae)

<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Abstract<br/><br/>Ipomoea L. is the largest genus in Convolvulaceae with approximately 150 species reported from Brazil, more<br/>than 50% of which are from the northeastern region of the country. The genus is represented by 48 species in<br/>Pernambuco state, occurring in Atlantic Forest and Caatinga vegetation as well as areas impacted by human<br/>activities. We present here an identification key, photographic documentation, taxonomic comments, and<br/>the geographical distributions of species in Pernambuco. New records of Ipomoea cearensis O’Donell, I.<br/>hirsutissima Gardner and I. squamosa Choisy for the state are reported. <br/><br/>Key words: biodiversity, morning glory, taxonomy, vines.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Resumo<br/><br/>Ipomoea L. é o maior gênero de Convolvulaceae com aproximadamente 150 espécies sendo reportadas para<br/>o Brasil, das quais, mais de 50% são encontradas na região Nordeste. No estado de Pernambuco, o gênero<br/>é representado por 48 espécies e ocorre na Floresta Atlântica, Caatinga e áreas antropizadas. Este estudo<br/>inclui uma chave de identificação, fotos, comentários taxonômicos e distribuição geográfica das espécies.<br/>Novos registros de Ipomoea cearenses O’Donell, I. hirsutissima Gardner and I. squamosa Choisy para o<br/>estado são reportados. <br/><br/>Palavras-chave: biodiversidade, jitiranas, taxonomia, trepadeiras.
