Nesse sentido, o mercado de insumos para o cultivo desse grão apresenta igual relevância. Santa Catarina é uma região de destaque na produção de sementes de soja, um insumo determinante para o sucesso da cultura. Nesse contexto, este trabalho objetiva observar a dinâmica do mercado de sementes de soja pela perspectiva de pessoas atuantes no setor, trazendo a visão atual e as necessidades futuras para o desenvolvimento deste segmento. Para tanto, foram realizadas entrevistas com gestores e técnicos que atuam nas organizações do mercado. Como principais resultados, observou-se que a participação do setor de sementes de soja para o total das organizações é altamente variável. Grande parte das organizações realizou ultimamente e pretende realizar futuros investimentos no setor de sementes. Cerca de 95% dos entrevistados indicaram o fator climático como o principal responsável pelo sucesso das sementes de soja no Estado. Assim, o setor de produção de sementes de soja em Santa Catarina é altamente organizado, está em constante evolução e com perspectivas promissoras de crescimento. Abstract – Soybean production is of great importance in Brazil, both in volume and monetary values and shows a growth trend with each harvest. Thus, the crop input market is equally relevant. Santa Catarina is a prominent region in producing soybean seeds, one of the determining inputs for the crop’s success. Therefore, this work aims to observe the dynamics of the soybean seed market from the perspective of people working in the sector, bringing the current vision and future perspectives for the development of this department. To this end, semi-structured interviews were carried out with managers and technicians. As the main results, it was observed that the importance of the soybean seed sector for organizations is highly variable. Most organizations have made and intend to make investments in the seed sector. Around 95% of those interviewed indicated the climate as the main factor responsible for the success of soybean seeds in the state. Thus, the soybean seed production sector in Santa Catarina is highly organized, constantly evolving and with promising growth prospects. Index terms: Glycine max; Input Market; Seed market.
