Abstract – The demand for knowledge on the use of soil remineralizers containing silicate rock crumbs or powders has been constantly increasing. The potential use of remineralizers associated with organic compounds (CO) is one of the main demands for study. Considering that in the Itajaí Valley in Santa Catarina, varvite powder (PV) and agro-industrial waste compounds are found abundantly, studies are needed on the associati on of these materials. Thus, the objective of the work was to evaluate the effect of the mixture of CO and PV on N mineralization and macronutrient availability in the soil. The experiment was carried out in a controlled incubation where five doses of PV (0, 5, 10, 20 and 40Mg ha-1) and CO (30Mg ha-1) were mixed into the soil, in additi on to the treatment with soil alone. The additi on of PV powder in doses above 5 Mg ha-1 aff ects the mineralizati on of N from CO, reducing ammonifi cati on, intensifying nitrification and causing lower levels of total mineral N in the soil during incubation The other macronutrients evaluated did not change, indicating the absence of contribution from PV in these att ributes.
