Resumo &#x2013;       A flutua&#xE7;&#xE3;o populacional do cascudo-amarelo, Geniates barbatus Kirby (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), em pomares de goiabeira no Litoral Norte de Santa Catarina n&#xE3;o &#xE9; conhecida. Isto dificulta o planejamento do manejo integrado de pragas a ser implantado nos pomares da regi&#xE3;o. Desta forma, objetivou-se monitorar a incid&#xEA;ncia destes besouros na cultura da goiabeira, visando conhecer sua flutua&#xE7;&#xE3;o populacional e determinar as &#xE9;pocas de maior ocorr&#xEA;ncia na regi&#xE3;o. Armadilhas luminosas foram instaladas em pomar dom&#xE9;stico de goiabeira na Esta&#xE7;&#xE3;o Experimental da Epagri em Itaja&#xED;, Santa Catarina, Brasil. Entre outubro de 2019 e fevereiro de 2024, as armadilhas foram ligadas diariamente das 16 &#xE0;s 9 horas, exceto de mar&#xE7;o a setembro/outubro de cada ano, quando permaneceram desligadas. A flutua&#xE7;&#xE3;o populacional de besouros G. barbatus caracterizou-se pelo r&#xE1;pido incremento inicial e posterior decaimento gradual de indiv&#xED;duos em curto per&#xED;odo de tempo. No litoral do Norte Catarinense, as maiores popula&#xE7;&#xF5;es ocorrem no m&#xEA;s de novembro.

Abstract&#x2013;       The  yellow  scarab  beetle, Geniates  barbatus  Kirby  (Coleoptera:  Scarabaeidae),  population  dynamics  in  guava orchards  on  the  North  Coast  of  Santa  Catarina  State,  Brazil,  is  still  unknown.  This  makes  difficult  the  regional  planning  of integrated pest management to be implemented in guava farms. The aim of this study was monitoring the yellow scarab beetle incidence in guava crop, in order to know its population dynamics and the periods of greatest occurrence in the region. Light traps, were set in domestic guava orchard at Epagri Experimental Station, in Itaja&#xED;, Santa Catarina, Brazil.  Between October 2019 and February 2024, the light traps were turned on daily from 4pm to 9am, except from March to September/October of each year when they remained turned off. The population dynamics of G. barbatus beetles was characterized by a rapid initial increase and subsequent gradual decay of individuals in a short time. In the North Coast of Santa Catarina, the largest populations occur in November.
