| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>RESUMEN: <br/><br/>Cuphea glutinosa (Lythraceae), popularmente conocida como siete sangrías o<br/>sanguinaria, ha sido utilizada en las prácticas de medicina popular, especialmente como diurética<br/>e hipotensora. Este estudio evalúa la actividad diurética y salurética sobre las excreciones<br/>urinarias de ratas Wistar acumuladas en 24 h. Se administraron oralmente tres concentraciones<br/>en infusiones de planta completa de C. glutinosa (2.5%, 5% y 10%), furosemida (10 mg/kg<br/>peso vivo) como control positivo y una solución salina de NaCl al 0.9% (5ml/100g de peso vivo)<br/>como control negativo o blanco. Los resultados mostraron efecto diurético positivo para todos<br/>los tratamientos, particularmente en concentraciones al 5% con valores de índices diuréticos<br/>significativamente superiores al control y a furosemida. Los estudios de saluresis mostraron que<br/>la administración al 2,5 % incrementó significativamente la excreción de Na+ comparado con<br/>el control, valores que también superaron los inducidos por furosemida. La administración oral<br/>de 2,5 y 5 % de infusión causan las menores excreciones de K+ aunque mayores que el control<br/>pero significativamente menores a los excretados por furosemida. Los resultados demuestran<br/>que la infusión de C. glutinosa induce un notable efecto diurético y una respuesta salurética<br/>tanto de Na+ como de K+, comportándose como un diurético tipo tiazídico.<br/><br/>Palabras claves: Cuphea, tiazídico, diuresis, saluresis, ratas |

| Nota de conteúdo | <br/><br/>ABSTRACT: <br/><br/>Diuretic and saluretic effect of Cuphea glutinosa cham et Schltdl. (Lythraceae)<br/>infusions in Wistar rats. Cuphea glutinosa (Lythraceae), popularly known as “siete sangrías”<br/>or “sanguinaria”, has been used in popular medicine practices, especially as a diuretic and<br/>hypotensive. This study evaluates diuretic and saluretic activity on urinary excretions of Wistar<br/>rats accumulated in 24 h. Three concentrations were given orally in whole-plant infusions of<br/>C. glutinosa (2.5%, 5% and 10%), furosemide (10 mg / kg body weight) as a positive control<br/>and 0.9% NaCl salt solution (5 ml / 100 g of live weight) as negative control or blank. Results<br/>showed a positive diuretic effect for all treatments, particularly in 5% concentrations, with diuretic<br/>index values significantly higher than control and furosemide. Studies of saluresis showed that<br/>administration to 2.5% significantly increased Na+ excretion compared to control, values that also<br/>exceed those induced by furosemide. Oral administration of 2.5 and 5% of infusion causes the<br/>lowest excretions of K+ although higher than control but significantly lower than those excreted<br/>by furosemide.
